Sales Pitch Before and After: How to Tighten Your Delivery

November 5, 2025 · 6 min read

The difference between an average pitch and a closeable pitch is usually 3 small fixes.

Before: "Um, so basically what we do is..."

After: "We solve [pain] for [prospect type]. Here's how..."

Fix 1: Cut filler words

Record yourself. Count "um," "like," and "basically." Aim for zero in your next take.

Fix 2: Add silence

Pauses feel awkward to you. To the prospect, they signal confidence.

Fix 3: End with a question

Don't trail off. Land on a question that moves the conversation forward.

Practice the fix

Use Sharpen Your Pitch to record before-and-after takes and compare them side by side.
